PRINCE GEORGE – This weekend the sights of Christmas will be on display at the Civic Centre. The 25th annual edition of the Festival of Trees gets underway Saturday morning and runs until Sunday December 2nd.

Through the past quarter century, the event has raised over 8 million dollars to go into healthcare equipment and projects at UHNBC.

“It’s a way of saying thank you I think it’s a way of involving volunteers, making people feel that there’s a purpose behind it. Obviously you know health care really does well off of it and we are able to purchase some really great equipment for the hospital, but I think it’s become bigger than that. It’s known as a community event where individuals, families, corporations really pull together for one common cause,” said Judy Neiser, CEO of Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.

The festival includes multiple displays, activities and events,  and there is always something for everyone,  no matter what age. In conjunction with the festival is the Civic Light Up set for Sunday evening from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the adjacent Canada Games Plaza.
