PRINCE GEORGE- The fifth Kiwanis AleFest wrapped up this weekend and once again it was a huge success. This year’s event sold out in less than 10 minutes. The event focuses on promoting all things local from the breweries that are showcased to the food that is served. It also raises money for the Kiwanis club to support Kiwanis projects and local charities.

The fundraising is a bonus to what the event is all about. Beer. AleFest showcases local breweries in a way where people can enjoy and try all of the craft beer in sample sizes. The sample sizes are a great way for people to test out the beer without having to feel pressured to buy it.

Crossroads Brewing Company is a local brewery here in Prince George that was part of the Alefest where people could sample their beer without having to go down to the actual brewery.

The craft beer market has exploded over the last few years and the Kiwanis Alefest is a great way to showcase a few of the roughly 150 local breweries in B.C. where people might not otherwise get the chance.
