PRINCE GEORGE — Update: Prince George Fire Rescue says tonight’s fire caused approximately $100,000 in damages.

Assistant Fire Chief Scobie says 15 firefighters from three halls responded to find a fully involved detached garage on fire.

“The fire was also impinging on the house itself as well as travel-trailer,” he says. “Crews quickly covered the exposure which left the house with minimal damage while extinguishing the garage and travel-trailer.”

Scobie says the garage and travel-trailer were a total loss but crews managed to save the house.

There were two people home at the time. One person was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation while the other person was unharmed.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Earlier: Prince George Fire Rescue doused a fire on the 1000 block of Parsnip Crescent in the Spruceland neighbourhood tonight (April 15).

The structure fire, possibly a shed fire, broke out just before 6 p.m. behind a home on the normally quiet street.

One witness told CKPG Today she heard a loud boom before smoke started billowing out of the structure behind the home.

Fire crews looked to have the blaze well in hand by 6:30.

No word yet on the cause or if they were any injuries.
