Construction of new fire hall underway

PRINCE GEORGE – There is a massive hole in the ground on Massey Drive as work is underway on new Fire Hall #1.

The hope is to have the 27,000 square foot facility completed in August 2020. That will be 13,000 square feet bigger than the current fire hall, which does not meet standards of coverage.
The new 911 fire dispatch will be moved into that new fire hall, as will a new Emergency Operation Centre. Also, Massey Drive and the entrance to the YMCA of Northern BC will be re-configured.

“The YMCA entrance will be relocated to the west side of the YMCA to a road called Del Laverdure Way,” explains Leland Hanson, Project Manager. “Del Laverdure Way will be improved, it will be paved into the parking lot of the YMCA.”

In October of 2017, residents approved borrowing $15 million to build the new hall.
