Heavy Metal Rocks goes full circle
PRINCE GEORGE – The success of a 16-year program is starting to see the fruits of its success.
The Heavy Metal Rocks program is designed to give high school students experience operating heavy machinery and this year’s event includes three former students who’ve returned to teach upcoming operators.
Thirty high school students from School District 57 are getting are taking the opportunity to learn from instructors who once were in their work boots.
The hands-on program began with a safety training on Wednesday, then moved into tours of an active construction site, followed by taking the opportunity to take the controls of a big machine.
