Pine Centre pop-up shop open for local businesses

PRINCE GEORGE— There are plenty of risks and expenses that come with starting a business. A new rotating pop-up shop at Pine Centre Mall may encourage up and coming businesses to have a temporary store-front location.

“What it’s allowed us to do is lease out this space totally renovated,” Pine Centre Specialty Leasing Manager Leah Feenstra says. “It has its utilities included already. We are able to lease that out to these smaller companies because a lot of them might be worried about having a physical location because they may not want to incur that over-head cost.”

Stores renting the pop-up shop location pay a fixed cost, varying based on the amount of time they are open- ranging from a couple of days to a maximum of a month.

Many of the businesses interested in the pop-up shop currently don’t have a physical store. The first business to rent out the pop-up shop is Blissful Bubbles Boutique. The owners do currently have a physical location in the Hart, but were interested in increasing their clientele by having a temporary location at Pine Centre.

“We decided to set up because we wanted to help get our name out and we wanted to share everything we do,” Blissful Bubbles Boutique Co-owner Kim Gardner says. “It also helps people know we’re up in the Hart location. Up in the Hart location we also have other local vendors, so it helps share their business as well.”

Blissful Bubbles Boutique will be in the pop-up shop until the end of the month. The pop-up shop is located just past Lowe’s and there are currently about five businesses in line to rent out the space in the upcoming months.
