PRINCE GEORGE – Action needs to be taken now. That is the reaction to today’s recommendations of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

Mary Teegee with Carrier Sekani Family Services says “it’s a report that I hope will actually lead to something concrete so that we could have funding and resources to implement the over 200 recommendations.” Teegee notes similar recommendations came from the Highway of Tears symposium and the Oppal report with no action taken.

Brenda Wilson’s sister Ramona went missing from Smithers almost 25 years ago, a year later her body was found. She’s hopeful today’s findings will see immediate action. Wilson remains unsettled, saying “are we going to bring our loved ones home, are we going to have justice for what happened to our loved ones?”
