The Cougars have struck up that new 6-year deal with the City, retroactively beginning last July, to stay in the CN Centre, a move which they hope shows their long-term plan to be Prince George’s hockey team. After the relocation of the Kootenay ICE in January, the speculation started to circulate that the Cougars could be next. From the team’s perspective, they’re here to stay. The agreement situates the Cougars here until the end of the 2024 season, and is mutually beneficial for them and the city, as long as they continue to succeed as a business.
