How realistic is a single-use plastic ban?

PRINCE GEORGE — Earlier this week, the federal government announced it’s intention to ban single-use plastics by as early as 2021. The goal is being seen as ambitious as the issue is actually much more complex than what is on the surface.

Most people look at things like plastic bags and straws but it is more widespread into sectors like healthcare where you find syringes.

Councillor Cori Ramsay believes it is an unrealistic target to fully ban single-use plastics, while REAPS Executive Director Terri McClymont said it is a reachable goal.
