Garteig’s Next Move

Two and a half weeks ago, Prince George boy Michael Garteig and his Newfoundland Growlers claimed the Kelly Cup as the ECHL Champions.
Now that the confetti and celebrations have settled, the goalie has already pieced together his next move by committing to Tapparra of the Finnish Elite League.
Tapparra is Finnish for Battle Axe, fitting as the team has cut down opponents for years. They own 14 league championships since 1959, including wins in 2016 and 2017.
Over the last two years, Garteig has signed contracts with both the Canucks and the Maple Leafs organizations, but by the end of this season, the 27 year old was starting to ponder if heading over to Europe was his next move.
