9 major resurfacing projects in Northern BC

Northern BC is getting freshly paved highway stretches this summer

STEWART–There are nine “major resurfacing” projects ongoing in northern BC this summer, according to a press release from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

The most recent being the highway resurfacing project on Highway 37 between Stewart and Dease Lake, aimed at improving safety and ensuring smooth travel for travellers. The project is a $7.9 million project which includes around 27 km of resurfacing along Highway 37, starting about 60 km north of the Meziadin Junction and continuing north to the Burrage Air Strip.

Other areas seeing work done this summer include Highway 97 near Fort St. John, Taylor, Prince Goerge and Dawson Creek, Highway 52 near Tumbler Ridge, Highway 16 near Prince George, Burns Lake, Telkwa, and Hazelton.
