Local survivalist weighs in on search for murder suspects

A local survivalist doesn’t think the Port Alberni teens wanted in the three murders in northern BC will be able to continue to elude police much longer if they really are sticking it out in the bush. He says the duo probably has training through Youtube, which he doesn’t think is enough to keep them in hiding.

Wetter weather affecting restaurant’s patio season

The wet weather has put a bit of a damper on restaurant’s patio season, with customers choosing to sit inside instead of out. The weather however isn’t expected to stay gloomy, with one UNBC Professor saying August and September are supposed to be the most promising, weather wise.

Study finds Port of Prince Rupert saw increase in employment and economic growth since 2016

A study released by the Prince Rupert Port Authority revealed that the Port of Prince Rupert saw an increase of 1,000 jobs over two years, in association to trade moving through the port.

Seniors take in a tour and a bite

The Senior’s Garden tour and lunch is on it’s 14th year and consists of seniors from various assisted living facilities coming out to Lhiedli T’enneh Memorial Park to enjoy a lunch in the park and later, a tour of the gardens. Only 46 seniors were in attendance this year due to the weather.

Free food and gathering point

Guru Nanaks Free Food Langar PG hands out meals and clothing to the needy three times a week for the last six years. The building located in a residential area on Victoria street is kept busy serving thousands of people food each year.
