Two PG Knights teams crowned champions

For the second time in as many weekends, Prince George baseball teams are celebrating provincial championships.

In the midget-age group, the PG Surg Med Knights once again claimed Baseball BC’s Provincial Championship in Burnaby, where a Jacob Ross one-hitter in the semifinals helped the team secure their sixth provincial tournament win in the last 4 years.

This one earns them a trip to Westerns for a third straight year, where the boys are the reigning champions. They’ll get the festivities underway in Strathmore, Alberta on Thursday.

The Midget Knights weren’t the only team to capture a provincial title this weekend though. All the way down in Mission, it was the PeeWee Single-A team who also came out on top. The Knights had an extra step getting to provincials this season, after having to get past the Quesnel Blue Jays in the Zone Playoffs in late July.
