PRINCE GEORGE — Don’t forget to secure your doors. This after the Prince George RCMP are reporting a recent spike in commercial break and enters in the city.

From Sunday August 4th to Monday August 12th, police say there has been 17 reports of break and enters to businesses in the city.

Four of the robberies occurred on Quinn Street and three on Robertson Road. Other areas targeted include Ogilvie Street, Spruce Street, Ospika Boulevard, Queensway, 1st Avenue, 3rd Avenue, 15th Avenue, Tabor Boulevard and River Road.

A Ford F-series pickup and F-series van were also stolen from separate Quinn Street incidents around the time of the break-ins and three Ford Excursions were attempted stolen from locations close to some of the break-ins.

Police say there have been some similarities in most of these investigations including:

  • Glass doors were smashed to gain entry;
  • Suspects specifically targeted cash drawers;
  • All of these incidents occurred between midnight and 4:00 a.m.;
  • Some of the properties targeted were professional offices, including medical and veterinary clinics.

Police are urging businesses to secure or remove any cash from the premises before closing for the day and to install a high quality video surveillance system.

Police suspect most crimes were committed by the same suspects.

Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
