Changes to transit coming

PRINCE GEORGE – With school starting up next week, there will be some changes to the local Transit system. “From a fare perspective, we are seeing some small fare increases in the Prince George Transit system.

Mainly, adult fares will remain the same. Senior and student fares will be going up 50 cents.” ut there will be a new day pass as of September 1st which will allow a rider to purchase a pass for $5. That will allow them to take any route on any bus.

There will also be additions to the routes themselves. Number 91-Spruceland will get longer hours in the evenings and Saturdays, while Route 43 – Queensway will also see more Sunday service and a larger bus.

Students at UNBC and CNC have had U-Passes for several years and having transit is crucial.

“There’s a large percetage of students on this campus that do use transit. For us, we have the U-Pass. It would be nearly impossible to alot of lower income students to get to and from campus.”
