Power restored after widespread outage

PRINCE GEORGE– A lightning strike is the suspected cause of a widespread power outage across northern BC last night . 124 thousand homes and businesses in Prince George ,Vanderhoof, Smithers, Fort St John, Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, Hudsons Hope, Houston and Burns Lake, were affected. BC Hydro’s Bob Gammer blames a transmission failure likely caused by the lightning, but is continuing to investigate . The lights went out just before 9pm ,with power restored to most of Prince George within an hour ,and all customers by 11:30 .
