With the Federal election just around the corner, plenty of information will be filtered through the media.

This includes Twitter and Facebook.

However, residents are being reminded to take everything on those platforms with a grain of salt.

The Prince George Public Library is looking to help residents by hosting a free event to help inform residents of how to properly intake information through the media.

“The event is called Fake News 101 and it’s really an overview of media literacy. So we will be looking at where we get our information and then critically assessing this information that’s put out,” shared Reader Advisor for the Public Library Luke Spooner.

Spooner adds social media plays a significant role when it comes to fake news as people have been saturated with information compared to when Facebook and Twitter were not around.

The program is entirely non-political and will be held at the Prince George Public Library Monday at 7:00 p.m.
