Curling takes to the street

Ahead of the 2020 Women’s World Curling Championship organizers have been out in the community holding street curling demo’s.

This included this past Saturday at Canadian Tire.

Residents both young and old had the opportunity to enter a draw for tickets to the event and even get the chance to throw some rocks on some artificial ice.

“We just want to get people super excited for this event,” stated Glen Mikkelsen, Vice-Chair of Facilities for the 2020 Women’s World Curling Championship.

These demonstrations will continue to pop up ahead of the Championships, but Saturday’s event will more than likely be the last one outside.

However, organizers are still looking for volunteers for the tournament.

“If people want to volunteer for the event, please go to Curling.ca and there will be information about our event here in Prince George. The best part is you can kind of select what areas you are interested in volunteering. So depending on your skills or interests are, you can pick what you want to do.”

The tournament is set for March 14-22.
