Record semester for international enrolment at CNC

PRINCE GEORGE — A new high when it comes to international student enrolment at the College of New Caledonia.

Director of International Education at CNC Barbara Old says enrolment skyrocketed to about 1,600 students last month – or around 33 per cent from 1,200 students the previous semester.

Of those 1,600 students, about 80 per cent come from India though 37 nationalities are represented in all, including students from Vietnam, the Philippines, Columbia, Rwanda, Mexico, South Korea, Kenya, Uganda and more.

So, why do so many come from India?

“Because of the federal government’s policy in who they’re issuing visas to,” responds Old.
