Some new bus stops in Prince George will be getting some new lighting, and will also be powered in a new way thanks to a brand new pilot project.

More and more these days residents look for new ways to be more energy-efficient and the City of Prince George is no different.

“We won the pilot for solar-powered shelters in our city and see how it works out,” shared Tiina Schafer, Manager Sustainable Development.

Typically they would share the cost through the BC Transit Shelter program 50/50 between the City of Prince George and BC Transit, but this year there was Federal Funding. As a result The City only needed to pay 20% of the cost of the solar bus stops. This is something that the city is hopeful they can do more of in the future.
