Three more cannabis retailers approved

PRINCE GEORGE – Despite a few objections, three more cannabis retail operations were approved by Council.

The first applicant to come before Council has a site in the Tabor Plaza in mind. There were objections from neighbours about how the location will influence cannabis use. On more than one occasion, Council had to remind those who made objections that it was a land use application for that location and Council could not influence what people opted to do in their own homes. Councillor Brian Skakun noted that if the students at the closest school, DP Todd Secondary, wanted to get their hands of pot “they probably can get it at the school.”

The second location is for Third Avenue just west of Victoria Street. It will occupy a site that has been vacant for six years. The applicant appeared by proxy, sending the realtor in his stead, which aggravated many around the Council table.

And the third application was passed without objection or comment. It will be located in the Spruceland Mall.
