PRINCE GEORGE — The Spruce Kings got a very much needed win last night to wrap up the three-game homestand.

The Kings were 5-2 winners against the West Kelowna Warriors, and they did it in style. Prince George rolled out some slick-looking red-threads for the fans at the RMCA.

In the opening period, the Spruce Kings found themselves on the power-play, and they converted. Nick Bochen took a shot from the point and found its way in the back of the net to give PG a 1-0 lead. The Spruce Kings took the one-goal lead to the dressing room after the opening twenty minutes.

In the second period, Nick Bochen blew a tire at the blue line, leading to a Warriors three on one. Prince George native Brandon Dent converted for the Warriors tying the game up at one. The goal was Dent’s team-leading 11th of the season. The Spruce Kings were able to answer late in the second. Ryan McAllister fired a picture-perfect shot top cheddar over goaltender Johnny Derrick to regain the Spruce Kings lead. Just over a minute later, Nick Poisson tipped a puck off a Bochen point shot that gave the Spruce Kings a two-goal lead after forty minutes.

In the final frame, it was Bulawka who got a pass in the slot and sniped past Jett Alexander to cut the PG lead 3-2. Prince George again responded. A good rush by the line of Poisson, Nolan Welsh, and Andrew Seaman led to the puck coming on Poisson’s stick with a wide-open cage and made no mistake to give the Spruce Kings a 4-2 lead. That was Poisson’s second marker of the night. The Spruce Kings put the game away as Carter Cochrane tucked the puck in the empty net solidify a 5-2 Spruce Kings win.

The Spruce Kings now head-on for a lengthy five-game road trip beginning Tuesday night in Parksville to take on the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

December 1st will be the next home game for the Kings.
