Accident leaves pedestrian with serious injuries

Prince George RCMP are investigating after a pedestrian-involved collision that occurred on Monday, Dec.2nd on Highway 97. A 49-year-old male suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. The investigation is ongoing.

YMCA of Northern BC is calling on everyone to give December 3rd for Giving Tuesday

After a weekend full of consumerism, Giving Tuesday follows Cyber Monday and the YMCA of Northern BC was part of the global movement. The public was able to text a line in order to donate $5 to the YMCA.

SD57 vice principal finds “piece of heaven” in Giscome

Giscome Elementary’s newest Vice Principal is downsizing in schools as he moves back to his home country. Jason Schwartz moved from Guangzhou–a Chinese city with a population of 16-million, back to Canada–Giscome, BC to be exact. His previous job aborad was at a school that held 5,000 students. Looking for a change of scenery he now teaches at Giscome Elementary where there is a total of 28 students.

UNBC Senate gives short-term solution with semester decision, long-term still up in the air

UNBC students will be able to finish off their semester, despite nearly a month of job action. UNBC’s Senate held a meeting on Monday determining that exams would be eliminated from the semester and that the semester would be extended until Dec.13. Grades are student and class-dependent. UNBC’s Faculty Association is still waiting to hear the verdict on the grievance they filed last week.

TYH: Where to find support if you identify as LGBTQ+

PG Queer Cafe, a cafe that is held once a month at Cafe Voltaire with the aim of creating a social environment for those identifying as LGBTQ+. It offers an open environment to find support groups. One Mental Health worker says that providing supports for marginalized groups is of high importance to the mental well-being of those affected.
