PRINCE GEORGE – For Aneet Brar, Prince George is now home.

Living in the Northern Capital for seven years now, her family moved up from the Lower Mainland hoping to see her business take off.

“I did have a business in the Lower Mainland, which for some reason didn’t do that well.”

She was looking for a new beginning with the hope that she would find success in Prince George.

She has, so much so that she now has two locations of Girlfriend’s Brow Bar operating – one at 835 Victoria Street (Downtown) and the other at 3811 Austin Road West (Hart).

It’s that success she’s found in Prince George that has made her want to give back and say, “thank you.”

Last year, Aneet and the staff at Girlfriend’s raised over $1,300 in a single-day event that saw an entire day’s worth of proceeds go directly to the Salvation Army. They surpassed that amount this year with the funds benefiting a different charity.

$1,773 and a substantial amount of food and clothing donations were raised to benefit Guru Nanak’s Free Food Langar.

“It’s important that we, as small business owners, and as women, give back to the community that fosters us,” said Brar. It is only with the support of a whole community that we will all succeed.”
