KERSLEY — It’s not something RCMP recommend, but a clerk at the Kersley General store south of Quesnel escorted an armed robbery suspect out of the store.

Police say it happened just before 5 p.m. on Dec.11 right after a man entered the store with a shotgun.

“The man demanded money from the staff member but was politely told that he could not have money and was then escorted from the store,” says Quesnel RCMP Sgt. Richard Weseen. “The man complied and left without incident.”

He says about an hour later the McLeese Lake General Store was robbed by a man who produced a shotgun. Police believe both incidents are connected. (Read that story here).

The suspect is described as:

  • Stocky
  • Five foot 10
  • Wearing a brown jacket, black pants and a toque that partially covered his face

Police say the store clerk took a “courageous stand against the robber” but recommend employees comply with demands made during a robbery.

“Whether it is cash or property that the would be thief is attempting to steal, it is not worth your safety, or possibly your life to take a stand,” says Weseen.

If you have any information about this incident, your’e asked to call the Quesnel RCMP at (250)992-9211.
