PRINCE GEORGE – The CN Centre will be a vastly different place in two weeks.

“This will be a beehive of activity,” says Glen Mikkelson, General Manager of the CN Centre. “Our ice makers will be busy making the curling ice. In fact, they’re going to working 24 hours a day for about for or five days, getting things all turned around.”

Uniforms are heading out to 351 volunteers this week.

Canadians were all watching the Scotties Tournament of Hearts this weekend to learn who will be Team Canada during the event.

“Typically what happens in a World event is, people are coming out to see Team Canada when it’s in Canada We always see a spike [in ticket sales] as soon as that team is declared,” says Terry Morris, Event Manager for Curling Canada. “And it happened here, too.”

In two weeks, curlers from 13 different countries descend on the city for the World Women’s Curling Championships for nine days. The City anticipates the event will draw between four and five million dollars for the local economy.
