PRINCE GEORGE – Truck drivers are an essential service during this time of the pandemic.

Day and night many drivers continue to haul and deliver freight while meeting those punishing timelines.

In appreciation for their efforts, some truck drivers received a free hot meal while they fuel up in Prince George.

Most of the world is on pause during the COVID-19 pandemic. Truck drivers keep hauling goods around the province.

With many of the restaurants closed along the highways, drivers can go hours without a hot meal. Canada’s Energy Citizens and the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers teamed up with the BC Trucking Association to buy 100 meals for truck drivers in the Prince George area.

Currently, many of the 18 wheel drivers can only stop where big parking lots are located. Smokey J’s food truck set up business Wednesday morning at the Chevron Cardlock fuel station in Prince George to serve the trucking community.

For the first-week operations, the food truck will be limiting the guests to truckers, and then the food truck will be available to the general public after April 15.
