Police seize drugs, guns

PRINCE GEORGE – Prince George RCMP say frontline officers seized a large amount of suspected illegal drugs, along with cash and firearms, from a home in the city earlier this week.

The investigation, conducted under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, began on August 24 at a residence on the 6200-block of Monterey Road. Once inside, officers found and seized roughly $29,000 in cash and more than 100 grams of two substances they believe are illicit drugs. Police also took two firearms and ammunition, as well as items they say are associated with drug trafficking.

One person was in the home at the time. Police arrested that person and later released them. No charges have been laid so far. Police are waiting on results from the National Laboratory to identify the seized substances, and any charges would need to be approved by the Public Prosecution Service of Canada.

“This investigation highlights the excellent observational skills and diligence of our frontline police officers,” said Corporal Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer for the Prince George RCMP. She added that police will keep targeting illegal weapons and drugs in the community and bringing those cases to court.
