PRINCE GEORGE – School District 57 has always maintained a school meal and nutrition program to support the health and academic and social functions of vulnerable students.

When the COVID pandemic hit, the school district staff continued to make meals for hundreds of students that range from kindergarten to grade 12.

Many of the students who receive a sandwich may not notice that their sandwich gets a special mustard heart.

According to the sandwich makers, it’s a symbol of how much they missed their students. WATCH CLIP:

Every school day an army of staff meets at the PGSS kitchen and assemble over 500 meals for some students.

According to Pam Spooner having the food delivered helps create a stronger connection with the students and family.

There are 26 schools that are part of the meals program and the number of students is expected to grow as the needs of the community increases.

If you find there is a need in your family for this kind of support its best to contact your child’s school.
