River search suspended

FRASER LAKE — The search for a missing Fraser Lake man has been suspended.

North District RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says on Wednesday, the RCMP’s Under Water Recovery Team stood down their efforts to recover the body of 35-year-old Jason Bouchard.

She says Mounties were notified of Bouchard’s disappearance after he failed to return home from a boating trip on the Stellako River last weekend.

Saunderson says the subsequent search located the overturned boat on the river and believe that Jason failed to make it safely to shore.

Search and Rescue plan to resume the search in July once water levels recede to conduct further searches in the area, both on land and water.
