PRINCE GEORGE — As more and more of BC begins restarting and reopening, one of the most popular summer spots for locals is getting a boost, farmers markets.

It was previously ordered only food would be allowed to be sold at markets but now, other non-essential merchandise can as well. Also, gathering to eat food and enjoy the spoils you pick up at the market is allowed, following similar guidelines seen in retail stores and restaurants.

For the Prince George Farmers Market it’s seen as a major boost and is actually changing some of their plans.

“We’ll have both the indoor market and the street market open. The vendors will be limited due to social distancing and whatnot,” explained Martin Krell, President of the PG Farmers Market.

Meanwhile, the online option, which has already been in place, will continue. In fact, it’s been quite a popular means of sale for vendors.

One other amendment has been made for farmers markets and that has to do with gathering to eat and enjoy the spoils you pick up. It will be laid out similar to what you see in pubs and restaurants.

The PG Farmers Market is set to open June 6th.
