Brodziak commits to LIU for 20/21 season

Former Spruce Kings Captain Nolan Welsh will have some company in Long Island this fall.

Wednesday evening it was announced that graduating 20-year-old forward Preston Brodziak has committed to Long Island University for the 2020-2021 season.

Brodziak spent 3 seasons in the BCHL with stops in Nanaimo, Cowichan Valley, and Prince George.

The Estevan, Saskatchewan product finished his BCHL career with 82 points in 165 games played.

Last season with the Kings, the 20-year-old put up 15 goals and 17 assists in 56 games played.

“We are very happy for Preston. He was a great competitor and teammate for us last season,” stated Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes in a press release sent out by the team.

“We are very excited for Preston’s commitment to Long Island University. Preston made a very positive impact on our team this past season,” shared Kings Head Coach Alex Evin in the same release.

Brodziak joins Welsh and former Cariboo Cougars Daine Duboise who has all committed to Long Island University for their inaugural season at the NCAA Division 1 level.
