PRINCE GEORGE–If you have a dog, you’ve probably witnessed it jump and bark at the window as the postman approaches. Canada Post has a request for all dog owners to help keep their employees safe.

According to a release from Canada Post an estimated 41 per cent of people of Canadian households have dogs, and that means a lot of barking and maybe even some aggression.

So far in 2020 delivery agents in Prince George have experienced 27 dog incidents, including seven in May and 11 in June.

Canada Post is asking that when parcels are being delivered you not open the door during the delivery or allow your dog to approach a Canada Post employee.

Canada Post says that retrieving your pet after it’s gone after the postman, makes it hard to physical distance and that taking these simple measures can help protect Canada Post employees from dog bites.
