Downtown’s new pool receiving $10 million dollars in funding
PRINCE GEORGE–The City’s new downtown pool is receiving quite the sum of funding from Provincial and Federal Governments.
$10 million in funding support for the downtown’s new pool, that is what both, the Provincial and Federal Governments are investing in. The funding is being provided from the Community and Recreation Infrastructure stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
“Council wishes to extend its sincere thanks to the federal and provincial governments for their incredible funding support and is proud that our proposal attracted the highest-possible grant amount through this funding program.”– Lyn Hall, Mayor of Prince George
The new pool will be connected to the City’s Downtown Renewable Energy System (DRES), which provides heating to several downtown facilities through wood waste at Lakeland Mills. The City says that heating the new pool with the DRES will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 95 per cent compared to if it was heated with natural gas.
