Curling Canada announces return to play plan

Jul 8, 2020 | 10:53 AM

Curling Canada announced earlier this week their strategy for returning to play for the 2020-2021 season.

The most noticeable change involves sweeping.

Each team will only be allowed one sweeper during games.

There will also be no sweeping of the opposition rocks behind the tee-line and new markings on ice for non-throwing team members to be stationed.

Other changes include the traditional handshake at the end of each game that will be removed and curlers are encouraged to either use a friendly broom wave or stick tap.

Coin flips will also be used to decide who gets last rock and also the use of manual scoreboards will be discouraged for next season. Curlers will then be encouraged to use their own tech or apps to keep score.
