VICTORIA — Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry is confirming 25 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C. today, though for the thirty-first day in a row, none in the Northern Health region.

That brings the total number of test positive cases in the province to 3,053 people, though 2,679 people, or 87.7 per cent, have fully recovered.

There are 187 active cases in B.C., 16 of those people are hospitalized, five of whom are in intensive care.

“Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 990 cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 1,610 in the Fraser Health region, 135 in the Island Health region, 202 in the Interior Health region, 65 in the Northern Health region and 51 cases of people who reside outside Canada,” says Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix.

There has been one additional COVID-19 related death in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, for a total of 187 deaths in B.C.

“There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks,” says Henry and Dix. “In total, two long-term care or assisted-living facilities and one acute care facility have active outbreaks.”

To avoid future outbreaks, Dix and Henry remind us that “the actions you take every day make the difference and will help to protect all of us.”
