City of Prince George spent more than $10,000 hosting Chinese delegation
PRINCE GEORGE — Documents obtained by CKPG News through a Freedom of Information request show the City of Prince George spent more than $10,000 hosting a delegation from Jiangmen, China, during a two-day visit aimed at exploring economic opportunities and the possibility of establishing a sister city relationship.
Officials from Jiangmen visited Prince George from May 7 to 8, meeting with local leaders and stakeholders to discuss areas of future cooperation. The visit focused primarily on laying the groundwork for a potential sister city agreement between the two communities.
That proposal has since moved a step closer to reality, with Jiangmen formally putting forward an agreement to establish sister city relations. The proposal is expected to come before Prince George city council for consideration later this summer.
