The 2019-2020 season was a unique one for Prince George Cougars’ blueliner Majid Kaddoura.

The defenceman didn’t start the campaign with the team, he was with the Saskatoon Blades.

However, then on January 9, Kaddoura received the news that he was on the move to B.C’s Northern Capital.

“Deadline day eve and when I got told I was pretty excited to start somewhere fresh,” shared Kaddoura to CKPG.

“I don’t think I got the opportunity that I really deserved there and I think Prince George really took me and treated me very well.”

In 24 games after joining the Cats, Kaddoura had 3 goals and 1 assist and was a key piece on the blue line for the club as they made a push for the playoffs.

“That’s the most exciting time of hockey. We are making a playoff push. We were right there with Seattle and each game was like a playoff game and everyone was really excited and we all thought we could do it. Then our season got cut short,” added Kaddoura.

The Chestermere, Alberta product will be a 19-year-old next year and not only is he looking forward to helping out the younger defenceman on the team, but also learn from returning 20-year-olds Cole Moberg and Jack Sander.

“I can teach the young guys and I can learn from the older guys. It will be good to get the young guys under my wing and still look up to Moberg and Sander. I want to be a key piece on the back end and I want to be a leader and show the young guys the ropes and hopefully help my team make the playoffs,” stated Kaddoura.

Overall because of the way last season ended, Kaddoura is excited along with the rest of his teammates to get the ball rolling for the 2020-2021 season.

“The season got cut short and everyone thought we could have done it. We have two very good coaches behind us, that’s going to show us how to play the game well and I think we will be very good next year.”

Kaddoura finished the 2019-2020 season with 5 goals and 9 assists in 60 games between Saskatoon and Prince George.
