VICTORIA–Once again B.C.’s state of emergency has been extended.

Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, Mike Farnworth made the announcement this afternoon. The extension allows for the Province to continue providing the resources it needs to respond to any new challenges that may arise during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In recent weeks, British Columbians have been reminded that COVID-19 case counts can easily rise if we’re not careful.”–John Horgan, B.C. Premier

“As we continue our slow and safe approach to Phase 3, extending the provincial state of emergency will continue to provide government with the resources we need to respond to any new challenges. This is not the time to let our guard down,” said Horgan.

The state of emergency will be extended until the end of August 18. “We still need to be able to access the necessary tools to support communities as they combat COVID-19 and its impacts,” said Mike Farnworth, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General. Farnworth adding that the state of emergency will continue to be extended as long as British Columbia continues to need support amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
