STEAM training at Exploration Place

PRINCE GEORGE – It’s been a while since anyone other than staff have been inside the Exploration Place but this week, a group of teachers from across the North are participating in some training, both in-person with social distancing, and virtually.

“Science World does a lot of work supporting teachers in their science and tech education work with students,” explains Karen Lee, a Professional Development Specialist with Science World.

This is the third year Science World has hosted this particular program and the aim is to now only have what the teachers are learning applied in their classes, but also to teach other teachers those same skills.

And it works.

“I also, at Spring Fling two years ago, ran a Pro D workshop on offline coding for primary grades,” says Megan Cleaveley, a Grade Five teachers at Lac de Bois. “So I had about 24 teachers come.”
