“This pandemic will be with us for a year or more and that’s why I think we need to have an election now.”—John Horgan, B.C. Premier

In a media teleconference this morning (Sept 21) Horgan said that this decision did not come easy, as British Columbians traverse a pandemic, however, says he believes dragging the leadership on over the next several months wouldn’t do anyone any good.

“Lets address the differences we have now,” said Horgan, “to wait for the next election seems to be time wasted.” B.C.’s Finance Minister, Carole James will serve as care taker minister from now until election day. Horgan adds that the provincial health officer did say that an election can be held safely amidst the pandemic.
