Fatal four-vehicle collision in Quesnel

QUESNEL — One person is dead following a four-vehicle motor vehicle incident on Highway 97 at North Star Road Saturday. At approximately 10:34am, a northbound cube van rear-ended an SUV which then resulted in a domino effect, says Quesnel RCMP.

Sgt. Richard Weseen says the driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, while the occupant of the SUV has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. Four people from the other vehicles involved were also injured. North District Traffic Services has since taken charge of the investigation. The name of the deceased will not be released.

Traffic is being affected in both directions on Highway 97. A detour is available at the North Star Road on/off ramps.
