Oct 27, 2020 | 11:38 AM

WILLIAMS LAKE—Piles of woody debris will be burned at multiple sites within the perimeter of the 2017 Plateau wildfire to help reduce the risk of wildfires in the area.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development is planning on burning 90 piles of woody debris starting late October 2020, and continuing through until February 28, 2021.

“Smoke may be visible from the communities of Nazko and Baker Creek and from other points along Nazko Road (also known as the Nazko Highway) west of Quesnel.”—Release by BC Wildfire Service

Burning will take place on days when site and weather conditions are favourable and will allow smoke to dissipate.
