RCMP remind public to drive with care this winter after pedestrian struck

TERRACE— RCMP in Terrace are reminding drivers to be careful on the roads as there is less daylight, after a youth was struck by a vehicle.

Terrace RCMP say they responded to the call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Oct.27 at around 8:10 a.m. A youth was said to have been crossing the street when the driver of the vehicle struck them while turning left from Sparks St. onto Walsh Ave., Terrace, B.C.

“Terrace RCMP are reminding everyone that we must all be aware of our surroundings when driving and that in the coming months it will be darker for longer periods of the day, with sunrise being later in the morning. It is recommended that should you need to walk that you wear bright clothing and reflective material to ensure you remain safe.”—Release by, Terrace RCMP

The driver, youth and multiple witnesses who saw the event, provided statements. The youth was taken to hospital to check for injuries, however, was released with no significant injuries. The driver was served a violation ticket for drive without due care, fail to yield to pedestrian, and fail to produce license.
