Six new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health, 272 in B.C.

VICTORIA–Six new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health for a total of 412 since the start of the pandemic.

Provincially, 272 new cases were reported, including five epi-linked cases, for a total of 14,381 since the start of the pandemic.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 4,664
  • Fraser Health: 8,219
  • Vancouver Island Health: 256
  • Interior Health: 741
  • Northern Health: 412
  • People who reside outside of Canada: 89

At the moment there are 2,390 active cases in B.C. 78 people are in hospital, of whom 25 are in ICU.

There is one new death for a total of 263 in B.C. There are three new health care facility outbreaks, while three have been declared over. In total there are 26 outbreaks in the health care system. There is one new community outbreak at Suncor Firebag Oil Sands.

“Now is not the time for parties or large gatherings in our homes,” recanted the Provincial Health Officer and Health Minister. “Instead, let’s spend time with others in a safe way, outside or in venues that have COVID-19 safety plans in place.”

In the statement, health officials are reminding British Columbians that the provincial health officer order limiting the number of people who can visit your home is in effect and surveillance will be increased for the weekend ahead.

6,003 people are under active public health monitoring for being exposed to a known case of COVID-19. 11,670 people have recovered from COVID-19 in B.C.
