BC RCMP announce Project Rainbow

Nov 1, 2020 | 12:12 PM

FORT ST.JOHN–BC RCMP have announced Project Rainbow.

“We want our community to have confidence that the RCMP can be approached without judgement and that they can feel safe speaking to police,” said Inspector Anthony Hanson with the Fort St. John RCMP.

“This sticker is a visible reminder of that to every person who enters our door and it is my hope that it is reassuring to those who need police assistance.”–Inspector Anthony Hanson, Fort St. John RCMP

For the past two years, RCMP Corporal Brendan Harkness had been working on a campaign to highlight and promote acceptance, diversity and inclusiveness with the RCMP as an organization, as well as to the communities they serve.

And so, on Oct.15 Project Rainbow was announced. To create more awareness detachments across the province are displaying the Pride flag along with an explanation placard in prominent areas of the detachment entrance, and one of those is the Fort St. John detachment.

  • We can be approached without judgement
  • You can feel safe speaking to us.
  • This is a show of support for diversity and inclusion.
  • We seek to create a positive and safe space for everyone.
  • We embrace the diversity of the population.
  • We are Canada’s national police: serving with pride.

Fort St. John RCMP are displaying the Pride Rainbow sticker in support of Project Rainbow and as a reflection, acknowledgement, and support for the LGBTQ2S+ community.
