DAWSON CREEK–RCMP are investigating and reminding the public to not carry valuables with them when walking alone after a person was robbed over the weekend.

RCMP say that on November 7th at around 7:15 a.m. they were alerted of a robbery at Kin Park in Dawson Creek. The victim said she was walking alone when she was struck on the head from behind.

She was then held down as they rifled through her pockets and took her purse. A sum of money was taken as well as a diamond ring belonging to her daughter. Minimal description of the suspects is available, however, it is believed they were both male youths, smaller in stature, and they may have been wearing black pants.

Dawson Creek RCMP say in a release that they “would like to take this opportunity to remind individuals to take some precautions to avoid becoming a victim of robbery,” including, not walking alone, not carrying valuables, maintaining situational awareness, carrying a cellphone and having an emergency contact, carrying an emergency audible alarm, and always letting someone know where you are and the route you intend to take.
