PRINCE GEORGE — The Rotary Club of Prince George Downtown held a successful fundraiser over the weekend.

On Saturday, the non-profit held a meat draw raising around $5,500 for COVID-19 relief and youth programs.

The winner of the $1,000 Homesteader Meats gift card was Bob Horning.

Spokesperson Matthew Thomson says it’s just one of a number of events Rotary has held to support the local community.

“We have already done a few things to related to COVID. Throughout the summer we purchased gift cards from local businesses and then gave them away through Facebook engagement,” he says.

“And we also made a major contribution to the Salvation Army to allow them to purchase parts to wheel the food out to the customers because they weren’t able to come into the food bank any longer.”
