PRINCE GEORGE — With a surge in coronavirus cases in British Columbia, Northern Health is urging northerners to respect COVID-19 rules ahead of the weekend.

“With more frequent cases and clusters, as well as increasing hospitalizations, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has issued strong orders and guidelines in an effort to address the surge in cases,” reads a news release.

“The North is not exempt from the increase in COVID-19 activity and hospitalizations rates, and we want to reinforce Dr. Henry’s call to act appropriately.”

Northern Health says we can all do our part to limit the spread of the virus by adhering to the following:

  • No social gatherings of any size
  • Wearing a mask in indoor public spaces
  • No non-essential travel
  • Staying home if you are sick

There are 198 active cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health, with 25 hospitalizations – 10 of whom are in critical care.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 737 confirmed cases of the virus in Northern Health and 533 people have recovered. Six people have died.
