PRINCE GEORGE — Northern Health says there’s been five more lab confirmed cases of COVID-19 at two Coastal Gas Link work camps in northern B.C.

That brings the total to 53 associated with the outbreak at 7 Mile Lodge in the Burns Lake Local Health Area and the Little Rock Lake Lodge in the Nechako Local Health Area.

Six cases remain active, down from 31 when the last update was provided on Christmas Eve. The remaining active cases continue to self-isolate.

Northern Health says both work sites are limited (by public health order) to essential workers only, to support those in self-isolation and to ensure safe operation of the sites until public health approves updated COVID-19 safety plans for restarting project work.

Northern Health is working with Coastal Gas Link, and Pacific Atlantic Pipeline Construction (PAPC), which is the prime contractor at the 7 Mile Lodge and Little Rock Lake Lodge work sites, in response to the outbreak to ensure enhanced control measures are followed to protect the health of employees, and of the communities where they live and work.
